3 Bit and Byte : 정보의 양을 나타내는 단위 (Feat. 아스키코드, 유니코드)

 

모든 컴퓨터는 숫자 0과 1만 이해할 수 있습니다. 0과 1의 작고 큰 집합을 디지털 데이터(Digital data)라고 합니다. 컴퓨터는 0과 1의 다양한 조합으로 사진, 음악, 영상과 같은 데이터를 처리하고 있습니다. 

 

 

비트(bit)  : 0과 1의 정보를 나타내는 최소 단위

바이트(byte) : 비트 개를 묶은 단위 

ASCII CODE

컴퓨터가 사람이 사용하는 문자를 이해할 수 있게 미국표준협회 ANSI에서 만든 표준 코드 체계이다. 그렇게 탄생한 아스키코드(ASCII - American Standard Code for Information Interchange)는 알파벳, 기호, 숫자들을 다룰 수 있는 유명한 문자 코드이다.  

 

아스키 코드는 총 128개로 이루어져 있으며 1바이트에서 7비트만을 사용합니다. 나머지 1비트는 오류를 확인하는 용도입니다. 미국에서 만든 것이기에 당연히 한글을 사용할 수 없어 문자가 깨지는 현상이 발생한다. 이를 해결하기 위해 유니코드(Unicode)가 등장했다.

 

 

 

 

Unicode

유니코드란 전세계 모든 문자와 숫자 그리고 특수문자와 이모티콘까지 모두 표현하기 위한 방식으로 기본적으로 2바이트로 문자를 표현한다.

Unicode : An international character encoding standard that provides a unique number for every character across languages and scripts, making almost all characters accessible across platforms, programs, and devices.
