Network

A network is like a digital highway that connects different computers or devices together so they can share information and communicate with each other. It's like how roads connect houses and buildings, allowing people and vehicles to travel and exchange things.

 

Internet

The internet is a massive network of interconnected computers and devices. It's essentially a network of networks, linking together millions of smaller networks worldwide. This interconnected system enables communication, data exchange, and access to resources across vast distances. So, you can think of the internet as the largest and most comprehensive network in existence.

 

 

WEB

The World Wide Web is a system of interlinked hypertext documents and multimedia content such as pages, pictures, videos, and other stuff you can see and interact with online. It's what you access when you use a web browser like Chrome or Safari to browse the internet.

 

HyperText

The text that you can click on to go to another place, like another web page. This linking capability is what makes the World Wide Web (WWW) so powerful and interconnected, allowing users to easily navigate between different pieces of information by clicking on hyperlinks.

Server and Clinet 

Server: Imagine a big library where all the books and information are stored. When you need a book, you ask the librarian (server), who then fetches it for you.
Client: You're like a library visitor who goes to the librarian (server) to ask for specific books or information. Once the librarian provides you with what you need, you use it for your purposes.

So, the server provides resources or services, and the client requests and uses them. It's like a give-and-take relationship where both sides play their roles.

네트워크는 두 개 이상의 컴퓨터나 기기가 상호 연결되어 정보를 주고받을 수 있는 구조를 의미합니다. 이 연결은 주로 데이터를 교환하고 공유하기 위한 목적으로 이루어지며, 네트워크는 지리적으로 떨어진 시스템 간에 효율적으로 통신할 수 있게 해줍니다.

 

네트워크의 초기 형태는 1969년에 미국 국방부의 연구기관인 ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency)에서 만들어진 ARPANET입니다. ARPANET은 핵미사일로부터 기밀 정보가 있는 중앙 서버를 분산시키며 시작되었습니다. ARPANET에서 사용된 통신 프로토콜 중 하나인 TCP/IP는 현재 인터넷에서 기본적으로 사용되는 프로토콜입니다. 이 프로토콜은 데이터를 안정적으로 전송하기 위한 규약을 제공하며, 이는 현재까지도 네트워크 통신의 핵심으로 사용되고 있습니다.

네트워크는 다양한 규모와 유형으로 나타날 수 있습니다. 작은 규모의 로컬 네트워크 (LAN - Local Area Network)는 한정된 지리적 영역 내에서 컴퓨터나 기기를 연결하고, 큰 규모의 광역 네트워크 (WAN - Wide Area Network)는 지역, 국가 또는 대륙 간에 시스템을 연결합니다. 

 

 

 

인터넷(Internet)은 WAN의 일종으로, 전 세계의 LAN들을 연결한 거대한 네트워크를 말한다. 즉, 전 세계의 크고 작은 네트워크들이 결합된 '세계에서 가장 규모가 큰 네트워크'라고 할 수 있다. 수많은 컴퓨터와 기기가 표준화된 프로토콜과 규약을 통해 상호 연결되어 있는 글로벌한 정보 통신 시스템입니다. 이는 사용자들이 데이터, 파일, 애플리케이션, 서비스 등을 주고받을 수 있도록 하며, 전 세계적으로 인터넷을 통한 커뮤니케이션과 정보 공유를 가능케 합니다.

 

인터넷은 다양한 서비스와 응용프로그램을 제공하며, 전자우편, 웹 브라우징, 온라인 쇼핑, 소셜 미디어, 동영상 및 음악 스트리밍 등의 다양한 기능을 지원합니다. '네트워크의 네트워크'라 불리는 인터넷은 수많은 컴퓨터들이 서버와 클라이언트로 분류되어 TCP/IP 프로토콜을 이용해 정보를 주고 받습니다. 

 

 

 

웹은 "World Wide Web(WWW)"의 줄임말로서 인터넷 상에서 동작 하는 서비스입니다. 웹은 인터넷에 연결된 사용자들이 서로의 정보를 공유할 수 있는 공간이 됩니다. 이런 웹은 하나의 사이트나 다른 사이트와의 관계가 거미집처럼 복잡하게 얽혀 있습니다. 현재에는 인터넷과 웹이라는 단어가 서로 혼용되어 사용될 만큼 인터넷의 가장 큰 부분을 차지하고 있습니다.

 

Internet이 제공하는 서비스 중 하나인 Web.

인터넷이 도시라면 웹은 도시에 있는 건물 하나.

인터넷이 도로라면 웹은 도로를 달리는 자동차 하나.

 

웹에서 사용하는 hypertext는 한 문서에서 다른 문서로 즉시 접근할 수 있는 text를 말합니다. 책처럼 처음부터 끝까지 읽어가는 구조를 선형적 구조라 하고 언제든지 관심있는 내용으로 이동할 수 있는 방식이 비선형적 구조입니다. Hypertext는 후자라고 할 수 있습니다. 이는 hyper(초월한) + text(문서)의 합성어로 미국 철학자 테드 넬슨이 구상한 용어입니다. 그는 세상의 모든 정보를 모아 서로 연계되고 이어지는 정보의 흐름을 만들기 위해 Project Xanadu를 진행했고 훗날 팀 버너스 리가 WEB을 개발하는데 큰 영향을 줬습니다.  

 

처음 인터넷이 세상에 나왔을 때, 일반 사람들은 인터넷의 존재를 알지 못했습니다. 특정기관에서 주로 쓰였기 때문이죠. 하지만 1990년, 인터넷은 웹을 만나면서 폭발적으로 대중에게 퍼지게 됩니다.
